Raymond S. Jones

Dr. Ray Jones has experience in leadership and organizational development spanning 35 years. In the 1970's he served in the Army Special Forces in South Asia, as a unit commander in Europe, and trained U.S. Army paratroopers, then was a project manager for the acquisition of a multi-million dollar training device for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Following advanced military schooling, he was assigned to the White House in 1984, where he served as Operations Officer to the President's Blue Ribbon Commission on Defense Management, and then as a Special Assistant for Policy, where he worked on inter-agency national security development. With his counterpart in the National Security Council he formed a joint working group that resulted in two presidential decision memoranda. Following the White House assignment, Dr. Jones returned to an assignment with an Infantry Division to train and lead soldiers, followed by reassignment to Washington to assist corporate level planning in the move from government to customer funding of the Army's R&D efforts, then consolidation of the Army Combat Identification project elements, and finally as the Chief of Infantry Operational Test and Evaluation. He retired from the Army in 1995, accepting a doctoral assistantship for three years full time study at The George Washington University. Dr. Jones received the Distinguished Faculty Award from Embry-Riddle South East Region in 2002. He was the Associate Dean of The Citadel Graduate College (2004-2008) and is now a visiting Professor of Management in the School of Business. Dr. Jones is married to Kathy Jones, Director of Business School Operations at The Citadel. Their children live in California, Maryland and South Carolina. Ray and Kathy live with Captain Morgan, a retired racing Greyhound in Mount Pleasant. |
