LTC Carl E. Betterton, Ph.D., P.E.

Dr. Carl Betterton is Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at The Citadel School of Business Administration, where his teaching includes Operations and Supply Chain Management, Quantitative Methods for Operations, and Project Management. Dr. Betterton earned a BS Degree in civil engineering at Old Dominion University, received his MBA at The Citadel where he was designated the outstanding member of his class, and graduated with distinction from the University of Georgia's doctoral program. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Betterton's experience with the Army Corps of Engineers included senior positions in construction, operations, engineering, design, and regulatory organizations, as well as extensive construction, operations, engineering, design, and regulatory organizations, as well as extensive program and project management oversight. His areas of expertise and publication include operations, modelling and simulation, lean and six sigma process improvement, theory of constraints (a TOC Jonah), product and service quality management, project management, design and construction management. Dr. Betterton's international experience includes four years as a resident in the Middle East as well as extensive travel to Europe and the Far East. His community activities have included service as Planning Commission, School Board, and Zoning Board member.
