NEW for 2014: the Schedule of Events for the Corps of Cadets has been modified to eliminate simultaneous scheduling.
SECURITY MEASURES: large bags, backpacks (to include bota bags, wine-skins, and camelbacks), large purses, hard-sided containers or items larger than 8" x 11" will not be permitted. Allowable hand bags will be inspected prior to entrance. Please see For Your Safety.
Admission tickets are required for the Corps of Cadets commencement on May 10, however, this year there will not be reserved ticket seating.
Each cadet will receives eight (8) general admission tickets from Cadet Activities during the week of April 14 to May 2. Seating will be available in the bleacher area on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors to McAlister will open at 7:30 a.m. Doors will close at 8:50 a.m. for the processional. Doors will not reopen until after the national anthem and invocation.
Graduation is a special occasion for everyone and we know that all guests are anxious to see their cadet take part in the ceremony. Please ensure that your entire group arrives at the same time if you wish to sit together. Out of respect and fairness to all visitors, you will not be allowed to hold seats for those who do not enter the field house with your group.
December graduates and fifth-year seniors living off campus must contact Ruthie Ward in Cadet Activities for tickets.
The Citadel Graduate College Commencement Ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. The doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Guests arriving earlier will be asked to wait. Following the ceremony there will be a reception in Deas Hall. Tickets are not required for The Citadel Graduate College commencement.
Please note that Commencement 2014 will be a very busy weekend.
Spring is high tourist season in Charleston. In addition there are numerous other events and graduation ceremonies that could affect your travel plans. In particular, the College of Charleston will hold two commencement ceremonies on May 10. Please consider alternate routes when traveling from downtown to The Citadel campus.
We encourage you to make plans as soon as possible and when traveling to campus events leave with enough time to account for traffic locally and finding parking. Please periodically check this web page for information updates.
