House Speaker to deliver graduate school commencement address
Bobby Harrell, speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, will deliver the commencement address to The Citadel’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies on Sunday, May 6.
CGPS will award approximately 235 degrees to evening graduate and undergraduate students this year. Commencement begins at 2 p.m. in McAlister Field House.
Harrell was elected South Carolina Speaker of the House in 2005 by fellow legislators. Before that he was House Ways and Means Committee chairman and chairman of the Economic Development and Public Education subcommittees. He was elected to the House in 1992 and appointed to Ways and Means in 1994.
Harrell is owner and operator of a State Farm Insurance agency and owner of Palmetto State Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical repackaging company.
The College of Graduate and Professional Studies provides graduate and evening undergraduate education to more than 1,200 Lowcountry residents in the fields of business, education, humanities, engineering, and sciences.
