Citadel Cheerleading Clinic marks 5th year
The Citadel Cheerleading Squad annual cheer clinic marks its fifth year in 2007
This year’s cheerleading clinic for youngsters ages 5 through 10 (up to 5th grade) will be Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Altman Athletic Center near Johnson Hagood Stadium. After a morning of cheer and dance instruction led by The Citadel’s co-ed cadet cheerleading squad, the youngsters will perform at halftime of the Bulldogs vs. Furman basketball game at McAlister Field House.
Cost of the clinic is $30 and includes lunch, a T-shirt and admission to basketball game Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2007.
The cheerleading clinic helps support scholarships for Citadel cadet cheerleaders.
In its first year in 2002 the cheerleading clinic attracted 25 participants. It has grown to more than 50 youngsters and has raised $5,000 to support academic scholarships for cheerleaders. The first scholarships were awarded last year to four cheerleaders.
“It was an honor to my squad and privilege to be able to reward my athletes for all their time and service to the cheer program,” said Coach Brittany Meyers.
