Programs & Services

Freshmen receive:

  • an online program prior to matriculation that they must pass with 85% accuracy
  • two hours of sexual harassment/sexual assault classes during orientation week that cover definitions, expectations, legal aspects, and institutional response policies

Sophomores receive:

  • a refresher course on definitions and policies, with interactive scenarios
  • the One-in-Four group's program for men on how to respond to rape

Juniors receive:

  • a refresher course on definitions and policies, with interactive scenarios
  • a local speaker
  • a national speaker on alcohol assisted sexual assault

Seniors receive:

  • a refresher course on definitions and policies, with interactive scenarios
  • a national speaker
  • the opportunity to train other cadets on these issues

Other cadet classes include:

  • self-defense for women- taught to Women Actively Seeking Achievement club
  • spring break safety tips- taught to Women Actively Seeking Achievement club
  • Mardi Gras safety tips- taught to Rifle Legion
  • healthy relationships, sexual harassment, and sexual assault information- taught to some RPED 250 classes
  • five day training program for Human Affairs cadets, which includes a national speaker on safety issues and leadership, classes on campus resources (including CARE, Counseling Center, Ombudsman, Chaplain, Infirmary, and Public Safety), and classes on helping other students find ways to handle problems

Faculty/staff receive:

  • classes through new employee orientation on sexual harassment
  • classes for all new faculty on sexual harassment/sexual assault/rape and the procedures for reporting each
  • classes during department meetings when arranged
  • TAC training
  • classes for tutors in the Academic Support Center each August
