The Campus Alcohol and Drug Information Center (CADIC), in collaboration with Athletics and Department of the Commandant has been awarded the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), CHOICES Grant for the period, September 1, 2014 through August 31, 2017.
The CHOICES Grant provides funding for NCAA member institutions to integrate athletics into campus-wide efforts to reduce alcohol abuse.
An important part of the CHOICES Program will be the creation of a peer education team comprised of athletes, cadets, and students (i.e., the ‘CHOICES Team’) who will provide alcohol abuse prevention programming within each of the four strategic interventions of environmental management.
The NCAA theme “CHOICES” was selected because college students are confronted with a variety of choices on a daily basis, some of which have lasting effects on their lives. The overarching goal of the grant is to create a campus culture that supports and encourages personal CHOICES that are legal, healthy, appropriate, and safe.
