Lieutenant General W. Michael Steele, USA (Retired)

Background
Lieutenant General Steele was commissioned into the United States Army upon graduation from The Citadel in 1967. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2001. During his career, he led/commanded at every level from platoon to division and served as commanding general U.S. Army Pacific. Other commanding general assignments included U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, the 82d Airborne Division and as commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Deputy commanding general assignments included: Training and Doctrine Command, 8th Infantry Division, Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army Infantry Center and School.

Lieutenant General Steele is a Vietnam Ranger Battalion and Ranger Group combat veteran. Following retirement, he served as a senior executive in the defense industry. In 2006, he started his own defense services company, Osprey Bay, LLC, where he used his expertise in military operations, planning, readiness training, instrumentation, education and doctrine to assist the U.S Armed Forces and allied/coalition nations with war fighting doctrine and weapon systems development. He also served as a senior mentor for the chief of staff, Army, General Officer Strategic Leader Development Program from inception in 2001 through 2014.
