The Citadel now has two active clubs for pre-health students: The Pre-Health Society focuses on preparation for Medical, Dental, or other Health-Related Professions (contact advisor Dr. Kathy Zanin for information), and the Health Professions Society focuses on PA, PT, and enrichment activities (contact advisor Dr. Sarah Imam for information).

MCAT Study Group - Tuesday nights 7-8 PM in Bond 325.  All pre-med students welcome.  MCAT prep books provided in the room


Bench 2 Bedside (B2B) Student Success Seminar Series: online video-conference sessions for Pre-Med, Pre-Nursing, and Pre-Dental students. These virtual meetings with students from college campuses across South Carolina and with experts from throughout the state, give students an excellent opportunity for professional development.

MUSC College of Medicine Association of Women Surgeons student chapter would like to extend an invitation to your college students to participate in the Annual Surgical Education Conference. They emphasize that men and women are encouraged to participate! The conference will consist of engaging talks by various surgeons in the morning and hands-on activities in the afternoon; breakfast and lunch will be included in the registration fee. Attention Pre-Meds: MCAT has released the test dates for 2018. Prepare well before taking the test. (Do not take the actual exam as a "practice" - it's not like the SAT or ACT - every score counts)

Financial Assistance for Kaplan Test Prep Courses:

Kaplan’s Starting Line program offers eligible students up to 60% off the cost of a course, which helps those who might not otherwise have access to test prep step up to the same starting line as everyone else.

Study Abroad and get shadowing experience, too:
An organization called the Atlantis Project is accepting applications for this winter and summer. They are a Pre-med study abroad that allows you to shadow doctors in European and South American hospitals for over 20 hours per week while rotating specialties.

 Health-Related Professions Summer 2018 Information Sessions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. For any student who is interested in pursuing a career in the following areas:

• Anesthesia for Nurses (DNAP)
• BS in Healthcare Studies *New program* 
• Cardiovascular Perfusion
• Health Administration
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy
• Physician Assistant Studies

At these sessions, our faculty and staff offer a comprehensive look at the admission process, financial aid, and prerequisite requirements for all of the listed programs. We provide an overview of all of the professions, and there are program specific breakout groups which allow each person the opportunity to speak with a faculty member from the program of interest. We will also be offering tours led by Student Ambassadors one hour before each information session.

To be eligible for SHPEP, an applicant must:
---be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or an individual granted deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
---be a college freshman or sophomore at the time of application; and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
---identify with a group that is racially/ethnically underrepresented in the health professions; or comes from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background; and/or demonstrate an interest in issues affecting underserved populations.

Attention Pre-Med students interested in DO:

Experience a typical day in the life of an DO medical student!

ATSU-SOMA's Student Government Association encourages pre-med students to attend ATSU-SOMA DO for a Day. Students should attend who are interested in learning about osteopathic medicine and the university. Students will attend class, small group activities, eat lunch with Student Ambassadors and observe a lab.
