Dr. Joel M. Gramling

Dr. Joel Gramling is an Associate Professor of Plant Ecology and Evolution. His research projects include a study on the effects of Laurel Wilt Disease on plant communities in the coastal Carolinas, an evaluation of species richness across South Carolina’s marsh islands and work to monitor the status of invasive and rare plant species in South Carolina. He is the advisor for the Master’s of Arts in Teaching in Biology Program at The Citadel. Dr. Gramling has been the Chair of the Southeastern Chapter of the Ecological Society of America since 2008 and hosts the Lowcountry Chapter of the SC Native Plant Society at The Citadel. Dr. Gramling works in conjunction with the Carolina Vegetation Survey to plan weeklong plant surveys in South Carolina each summer. |
