Director: LTC Jane Warner, Ed.D.

Dr. Jane M. Warner is the Director of the Academic Support Center. In this position, she coordinates accessibility to university programs and classes for students with documented disabilities. Dr. Warner also serves as a resource to administration, faculty, and staff on disability issues as well as other academic support needs.

Dr. Warner holds an Ed.D. in Special Education Administration and Supervision from Virginia Tech, a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech and a BA in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before coming to The Citadel, she served as Assistant Director of Services for Students with Disabilities at Virginia Tech. She has also held the position of Special Education Program Auditor for the Washington State Legislature and has taught special education to grades K-12.

Dr. Warner's memberships include the National Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), South Carolina University & College Council of Educators Empowering Disabled Students (SUCCEEDS), and the American Association of University Women.

Assistant Director: Patrick Hendrix, Ph.D

Pat Hendrix is the co-Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center, managing the Writing Lab and Supplemental Instruction. Dr. Hendrix received his Ph.D in History from the University of Stellenbosch in Stellenbosch, South Africa and a Master’s in History from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Before becoming the Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center, he worked for The Citadel as a program manager and as a subject area tutor for history and political science. He has also worked as an adjunct professor of history and a cultural resources consultant and has researched and written on history and archaeology for public and private clients throughout the United States and the Bahamas. His manuscripts include Murder and Mayhem in the Holy City, Down and Dirty: Archaeology of the South Carolina Lowcountry and The History of Fort Sumter: Building a Civil War Landmark.

Assistant Director: Kate Brown, M.A.

Kate Brown is the co-Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center.  She supervises the Subject Area Tutoring (SAT) Program, which offers group and individual tutoring in multiple disciplines.  Additionally, she is responsible for coordinating and supervising the athletic academic services on campus.  She coordinates with Citadel athletic coaches to ensure that cadet-student-athletes have equal access to the Center’s academic support services.  She also administers the Center’s academic support program for academically at-risk student-athletes.  Before becoming the Assistant Director, she worked for The Citadel as an intern in the athletic academic services program and served as an academic advisor and learning strategies specialist.  She also served as a subject area tutor in psychology, French, and writing. 

Kate attended the College of Charleston and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology.  She earned a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel Graduate College in 2013.

Math Lab Coordinator: Sherry Livingston, M.A.

Sherry Livingston is in her first year running the day-to-day operations of the Math Lab, after serving as a tutor in the Math Lab since January 2007.  She received her Master's in Pure Mathematics from Western Michigan University in 2000, and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education as well as an Education Certification at Southern Nazarene University in 1998. Sherry also works as an adjunct professor in The Citadel's Mathematics department.

Office Manager: Paula Ross

Paula Ross is the Office Manager in The Center. She has worked at the Citadel since 1998, in the Office of Access, Services, Instruction, and Support (OASIS) since July of 2000, and began working in The Center when the OASIS office and Writing and Learning Center merged in August of 2009. Paula was born and raised in the Charleston area.
