Cadet Green gets Sigma Delta Pi scholarship
Cadet Andrew Seth Green has been awarded a Sigma Delta Pi National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society scholarship for a semester of study at Universidad Internacional/The Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies of Cuernavaca, Mexico, for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition for study in the Licenciatura en Enseñanza del Español como Segunda Lengua (Program for Teaching Spanish as a Second Language) where he will study with Mexican university students. Sigma Delta Pi will provide a $1,000 stipend for travel, room and board.
"This award is a tremendous achievement since only one semester-abroad scholarship was available for eligible applicants from the 545 Sigma Delta Pi chapters nationwide," said Mark Del Mastro, head of the Modern Languages Department.
Green currently serves as secretary of The Citadel's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi. and was inducted a member of this honor society in March 2006. A junior, Green is a Spanish major from Band Company. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jonathan Green of Queensbury, N.Y.
