Civil Air Patrol
The Civil Air Patrol was officially chartered by Congress in 1946 and charged with three misions: to promote aviation, provide training to the nation's youth, and provide emergency services.
In 1948, the Civil Air Patrol was designated as the official civilian auxiliary to the United States Air Force.
