Freshman military training begins Monday

Military training and processing gets under way Monday, Aug. 15 at The Citadel, providing several photo opportunities for the media.

  • At 7 a.m. Brig. Gen. Emory Mace, commandant of cadets, will address the nearly 700 members of the freshman class. The speech will last about 25 minutes.
  • From 8 a.m. to noon freshmen will get measured for uniforms and begin military orientation and training. Reporters and cameras are welcomed in outdoor locations.
  • At 6 p.m. freshmen will be sworn in during a 15-minute ceremony on Summerall Field. In the event of rain, check with Public Affairs on an alternate location.

Please contact Public Affairs at 843-953-2155 to coordinate a visit to campus, arrange interviews or get information about freshmen training. College policy requires reporters and photographers have a Public Affairs escort while on campus. More information about filming on campus click here.
