Memorial service for Cadet Adam Riley
We all continue to deal with the loss of Cadet Adam Riley. Adam was a superior student, a valued and respected leader in the Corps, and a credit to his Army ROTC unit.
A story in the Cape Cod Times reflected on Adam’s life, including his time here at The Citadel.
I have spoken with Cadet Adam Riley’s parents and they are deeply appreciative for the many kind words and prayers that have been offered by The Citadel family.
Messages of condolence may be mailed to the family's home:
Kevin and Carol Riley
120 Blue Water Drive
Centerville, MA 02632
The family has asked that contributions in Adam’s memory be made to The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie St., Charleston, S.C. 29409-6230.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Summerall Chapel.
These next few weeks will be especially difficult as cadets recover from the shock of Adam’s loss and must come to grips with the tragedy. We will continue to provide whatever counseling services and support our cadets need to help them through this difficult time.
We encourage members of The Citadel community to seek out support for themselves and to encourage others to seek support as we all work to cope with this loss. Keep in mind the following stand ready to meet your needs:
- Tactical Officers, a list for whom can be found by clicking here
- Counseling Center Staff can be reached at 843-953-6799 and online at http://www.citadel.edu/counseling/

Thank you once again for your support during this difficult time.
