Cadets to host area children at annual Fall Festival
Fourth Battalion cadets will once again host a Fall Festival of fun for several hundred Lowcountry children and the families of campus residents.
The Fall Festival will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. The barracks will be decorated and will feature several children’s activities, including the costume corral where children can receive festive ribbons to wear, face painting, storytelling, pumpkin painting and games. The Citadel Chorale will provide musical entertainment and children will be able to trick or treat. A hot dog stand will be provided courtesy of Aramark, the campus dining services provider.
Around 400 children ages to 8 to 10 have been invited from local organizations such as the Charleston Developmental Academy Charter School. Fourth Battalion’s freshmen cadets, spirit officer and human affairs cadets are coordinating the Fall Festival.
“This is one of the most significant community events of the year in which our cadets have the opportunity to put their training and good will into action,” said retired Army Col. Wendall McMillan, Fourth Battalion tactical officer. “Because of the positive feedback we received after last year’s event, more of our cadets are volunteering in community outreach programs.”
This is the third year for the Fourth Battalion Fall Festival.
