Secretary of USAF and the co-founder of Priceline to speak at graduation

Commencement ceremonies for the S.C. Corps of Cadets and Citadel Graduate College on May 10

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Secretary of the U.S. Air Force and the founder of Priceline will deliver the commencement addresses to the Class of 2014 at The Citadel on May 10.

Delivering the speech to the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, will be Deborah Lee James, secretary of the U.S. Air Force. She is the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force and is responsible for the affairs of the Department of the Air Force, including the organizing, training, equipping and providing for the welfare of its more than 690,000 active duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian Airmen and their families. She also oversees the Air Force's annual budget of more than $110 billion. James is the highest-ranking official in the USAF as the secretary's position is appointed by the President of the United States.

James has 30 years of senior homeland and national security experience in the federal government and the private sector. Prior to her current position, James served as president of Science Applications International Corporation's Technical and Engineering Sector, where she was responsible for 8,700 employees and more than $2 billion in revenue. The central presentation for The Citadel Graduate College commencement ceremony will be given by Timothy "Scott" Case, co-founder and CEO, Main Street Genome, and founding chief technology officer, Priceline.com. Case is a technologist, entrepreneur and inventor, and was founding CTO of Priceline.com, the internet travel service that reached $1 billion in annual sales in less than 24 months. As chief technology officer, Case was responsible for building the technology that enabled Priceline's hyper-growth.

Most recently, Case co-founded Main Street Genome, a startup focused on developing a software representation of the entire Main Street Economy. In January 2011, he was named CEO of the Startup America Partnership, where he and his team supported a national network of vibrant startup communities that maximize startup success. Prior to joining the Startup America Partnership, Case served as CEO of Malaria No More, where he worked to inspire individuals and institutions in the private sector to end deaths caused by malaria. Previously, Case helped build a portfolio of intellectual property at the Walker Digital Invention Laboratory, and is a named inventor on dozens of U.S. patents including the underlying portfolio for Priceline. In addition, Case co-founded Precision Training Software, a software company that developed the world's first PC-based simulated flight instructor and photo-realistic flight simulator.
