2011 Honor Committee Induction Dinner
Honor Committee candidates participate in an intensive training program to prepare them to serve as effective members of the committee. This training program, designed to develop Honor Code "subject matter experts" within the Corps of Cadets, is mandatory before Cadets can be considered for committee positions. After successful completion of this training, the candidates are then elected to serve by members of their respective companies and battalions.
Those attending the dinner included the 2010 Honor Committee officers and battalion representatives as well as all of those who will serve as 2011 Honor Committee members. Colonel James Rembert, Citadel professor and former Honor Committee faculty advisor served as the speaker for this event. The director of the Krause Center, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Weart, current Honor Committee faculty advisor, Dr. Kyle Sinisi, and History professor and former Honor Committee faculty advisor, Brigadier General Michael Barrett were also in attendance. The 2010 Honor Committee Chairman, Donald Dyer, advised upcoming committee members of the job that they had been elected to do, a duty that cannot be taken lightly. He let them know it is not easy to sit across from a classmate and tell them they have committed an honor violation, for the classmate or the Honor Committee. The 2011 Honor Committee needs to understand and respect their role at The Citadel.
