Citadel Women’s Club garage sale returns May 30 bigger, better

The Citadel Women’s Club 14th annual garage sale promises to be the biggest and best yet with more merchandise than ever for bargain shoppers.

This year’s sale is from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30, at the Altman Athletic Center, which is located in the end zone of Johnson Hagood Stadium at Hagood Avenue and Fishburn Street.

“This year’s sale promises to be the biggest yet,” said English Preston, president of The Citadel Women’s Club. “Merchandise will fill the first floor of the Altman Center and the South end of the West Side concourse under the football grandstands where shoppers will find rooms of furniture, nearly 200 cases of books, and civilian clothing for children, women and men.”

Bargain hunters can also find cleaning supplies, sporting goods, shoes, art work, children’s toys and games, luggage, house wares, cadet uniform items, linens, holiday decorations, office and school supplies, electronics, computer hardware, appliances, bicycles, fans, vacuums, hardware, carpeting, music and entertainment. New this year will be men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and more furniture than before.

All proceeds from the garage sale are used to support the John S. Carter Scholarship Fund. During the 2008-2009 school year 13 cadets were recipients of scholarships from the fund.
