ADVANCE REGISTRATION - All media organizations must register in advance by calling or emailing Public Affairs by Wednesday May 2. Please submit names of those who will represent your organization, contact phone numbers (including cell numbers), parking requirements (live truck, passenger vehicle), seating requirements, if any, and email address.
CHECK IN - Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5 in McAlister Field House. All media should arrive and be set up by 8:45 a.m. Those wanting set up access prior to 8 a.m. Saturday should make arrangements with Public Affairs in advance.
POOL CAMERAS - Pool cameras will be in effect for both television and print media. Audio and video feeds will be provided. Tapes are available upon request. The pool TV camera is approximately 52 feet from center stage and will remain stationary during commencement. The media area/platform is approximately 123 feet from the stage. Please bring appropriate equipment to film/record from this area. Cameras and reporters will not be allowed to move around the field house during the 3.5-hour ceremony. The Post and Courier in Charleston is the designated print pool camera. For information contact 843-937-5569.
PARKING – Media parking will be designated adjacent to the field house. Parking is limited and travel on campus is difficult on commencement morning. You are encouraged to arrive early to make your travel easier and to take advantage of special parking. Morning refreshments will be provided. Maps will be available beginning April 30.
MEDIA ENTRANCE – The media entrance will be adjacent to the media parking lot. You will enter the field house via the center door on the northwest side across from Deas Hall. NOTE TO CHARLESTON MEDIA: This is different from year’s past.
PRINT AND RADIO PRESS - A print press room will be provided for reporters who need to watch commencement via remote broadcast for story filing purposes. Wireless Internet access will be provided. You must provide the equipment to connect to the wireless signal. Additional seating for print reporters and for radio reporters will be available on the second floor of McAlister Field House in the bleacher style seats.
The Citadel will broadcast the commencement in its entirety on the Internet. The URL will be provided at www.citadel.edu before commencement
