The purpose of the Psychology Club is to encourage and stimulate interest in the area of Psychology. The Psychology Club offers students the opportunity to interact with and learn from scholars and mental health professionals from the Charleston area. The Psychology Club also provides opportunities for students to interact with the community via public service.
The Psychology Club is open to all students regardless of major. Interested undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to participate.
The Psychology Club Officers consist of a: (1) President, (2) Vice President and (3) Secretary/Treasurer. Active student members of the Psychology Club may be elected to office. Officers for the ensuing year will be elected at the first regular meeting held in September, with the new officers assuming duties at the following meeting.
Meetings are normally held on Tuesdays evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 pm. Meetings vary from presentations by speakers (e.g., forensic psychology, school psychology, teaching EMH children, neuropsychology) to community service events like the Halloween and Valentine Buddy Dances. A cookout is scheduled for late September or early October.
The faculty advisor of the Psychology Club is Dr. T. Darin Matthews.
