 DESCRIPTION OF AGENCY: 
Private non-profit agency provides multi-disciplinary services to children alleged to have been victims of child abuse and their families.  Program aims to coordinate the delivery of services (DSS, Law Enforcement, Medical, Mental Health, etc.) to minimize duplication and to maintain the focus on the child.  Services offered include treatment and trauma assessment, individual, group, and family therapy, and case coordination.

Don Elsey Ed.D. : Dr. Elsey is the counseling supervisor at LCC.  His philosophy toward counseling is primarily based in cognitive-behavior theories.  He believes that children who have been sexually abused can go on to lead productive lives after the abuse has been stopped.  The type of experience Dr. Elsey provides students at LCC is face-to-face interaction with clients with a strong emphasis on consultation.  The student is treated as a professional and respected for his/her work while being guided in the learning process and provided the constructive criticism that leads to further personal and professional growth

Libby Ralston Ph.D.:  Dr. Ralston is a cofounder of the Lowcountry Children’s Center.  Her counseling philosophy is based in cognitive-behavioral theories.  She has been instrumental in the prevention of abuse at almost every level including hands on, legislation and written materials.  The type of experience provided to students by Dr. Ralston includes verbally providing research information to help the student understand the empirical basis behind what is done at the LCC.

Polly Sosnowski MSW, LISW-CP, ACSW:  Mrs. Sosnowski is in charge of research at the LCC.  She has worked with children and families dealing with the issues of abuse for many years.  Her counseling philosophy is based on cognitive-behavioral principles with a strong emphasis on psycho-education.  The type of experience Mrs. Sosnowski provides includes a warm approach to challenging the student to think for him/herself and providing support around the conclusion reached by the student.

Allison Rogers LISW: Ms. Rogers is the senior therapist at LCC, has been working with victims of abuse for many years and teaches others in the community to interview victims.  Her philosophy is cognitive-behavioral based.  The type of experience Ms. Rogers provides is experienced guidance through the counseling process both through allowing students to observe and offering professional advice.
