Field Placement Sites and Information

Field Placement Supervisors:

Timelines For Scheduled Interviews*:
Spring Placement: Third full week of October
Summer Placement: Third full week of March
Fall Placement: Third full week of March

*In order to minimize demands on field placement site supervisors we are requesting that you interview with
field placement sites only during these times. You can schedule your interview as early as you'd like, but you should
plan to complete the interview during the above noted weeks.

Deadline Dates For Securing Field Placements:
Spring Placement: Nov. 30
Summer Placement: April 30
Fall Placement: April 30

Note: Practicum placements for Fall 2007 are only based at:

College of Charleston Counseling Center AND Charleston Center

Group hours: Charleston Counseling Center and Palmetto Behavioral Health

Please note that you cannot be placed in the same site for practicum and
internship. However, you can secure an internship site in a different
program in the same agency (Charleston Center has a wide range of programs
available for placement) in which you completed your practicum.

You will be assigned a primary practicum placement at either location to
complete your 75 individual hours.

All group hours will be completed at Charleston Center or Palmetto
Behavioral Health.

If an instance arises in which a student is offered a planned group
experience at College of Charleston, this can be arranged (but there is
little opportunity at C of C for group hours).
All students will interview before the field placement expo at 5 p.m. on
March 14th.

A separate practicum agreement must be completed for different sites.
Placement is at either site is guaranteed, but spots are filled based on
site and student preferences following an application and review process.
Submit your preference for practicum site placement to the field placement
site coordinator at the end of the interviewing week (Friday by 5 p.m.).
The field placement site coordinator will inform you of your placement by
the end of the week in which you participate in the Field Placement Expo.

Insurance must be secured before the first class meeting and written proof
of insurance must be brought to the first class.
