The Procurement Services Department offer several training programs both in classroom hands on training and on line self -paced training programs.  In March of 2004 we began an extensive training program which explains the purchasing rules and procedures which govern our institution.   Below is an outline of some of the  material covered during the in class training program.  Have you every asked any of these questions?

            1.   What is Procurement Services?

II.         Purchasing:

            1.    What governs The Citadel's purchasing policies?

            2.    Who has legal authority to purchase goods .... for The Citadel?

      3.    How can departments obtain goods and services?

      4     What are the State's guidelines for different sources of funding?                              

      5.    What are the requirements and time limits for competitive bids?

III.       Supply Management:

            1.     What is Supply Management?

            2.     How is Citadel equipment and property controlled?

            3.     Who is responsible for copiers across The Citadel campus?

IV.       Procurement FRS Screens and Instructions

            1.     How do I enter a Purchase Requisition?

            2.     Who must approve PR before they get processed?

            3.     Who does receiving on Purchase Orders?

            4.     What are the budget screens and does one understand them?

V.        State Purchasing Card

            1.     What is the State Purchasing Card?

            2.     How does the Purchasing Card Program work?

            3.     What are the Cardholders responsibilities?

            4.     Who is a Department Liaison?

            5.     What are the Department Liaison's responsibilities?

            6.     What vendors are blocked for purchasing with a State Purchasing card?

 

These and many other similar  questions are addressed in the  Procurement Services training classes.  Anyone dealing directly and indirectly with the expenditure of funds at The Citadel needs to attend these classes.  You may  plan to attend one of the upcoming monthly training classes offered by the Procurement Services Department.
