Remembering September 11, 2001

The Citadel paused Wednesday morning to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 tragedies.  Members of the Corps of Cadets met at the flagpole on Summerall Field for a memorial service at 7:30, while faculty and staff gathered at 8:30 for a community service in Summerall Chapel.

Citadel President Maj. Gen. John S. Grinalds and members of the Corps of Cadets salute the half-staff flag as the band plays the Star Spangled Banner.

The Commandant’s Office made a special exception to uniform guidelines to allow
cadets to wear patriotic ribbons .
“We must honor the fallen and those killed in defending our freedom,”
Chaplain David Golden tells the Corps.
