NAVL 201 Naval Leadership and Management I
 
Course Description
 
This course provides the student with a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of naval leadership and management.  Theoretical aspects of the management functions and processes are examined, and their applications to the naval profession are discussed.  In addition, motivation and motivational theories, counseling techniques, and effective communicative skills are studied and applied to naval leadership and management roles.  This course is taught using lectures, experimental exercises, case studies, self-study exercises, and role-playing exercises.  The goal of this course is to provide students with the fundamental concepts, principles, and sources of information necessary to establish a sound basis for their initial performance and future growth as a junior officer.  This course also provides the students with the values and motivation which prepare them for service with the sense of honor and integrity required of a commissioned naval officer.  (Two Credit Hours)
