The Citadel Summer Study in Germany and Austria

On demand, given sufficient student interest.

Program:
Sixty classroom hours of German instruction in Innsbruck. Four days in München. Excursions to Andechs, Regensburg, Hall, Salzburg. Visits to castles, cathedrals, monasteries, museums, points of historical and cultural interest. Theater, concerts, film. Alpine hiking.

Prerequisites:
German 102 and approval of program directors.

Conditions for Participation
Participants speak German in their communication with natives, instructors, and classmates. Before departing the US, participants meet regularly and complete a reading list. Course grades based on classwork, participation in activities, select projects.

Credit:
Six semester hours for a combination of two of the following, depending on placement:
German 203, Intermediate German I Abroad
German 204, Intermediate German II Abroad
German 390, Special Topics in Language and Literature
German 391, Special Topics in Landeskunde.

Accomodations:
In private homes, mainly of Austrian officers, in Innsbruck; in hotels elsewhere.

*Estimated Cost:
$3,300. The estimate includes tuition, lodging and meals, excursions, roundtrip airfare.
