Information for Faculty

Please make sure that you read and understand the Daniel Library's copyright policy for reserve items.

Please contact Ruby Murray, 3-2568 or 3-6845, for help placing items on reserve.

Please allow three business days for cataloging reserve materials.

Books and Videos

Personal Copies
Faculty may place personal copies on reserve for one semester only. If a longer period is required, the faculty must seek copyright permission or have the library purchase the item.
Library Copies
Faculty may fill out the following form to place a library item on reserve. Items must be placed on reserve each semester. They will be shelved back in the stacks at the end of the semester. This facilitates patrons' access to the library's resources.

Articles and Book Chapters

These can be placed on reserve for one semester only. If a longer period is required, please inform the library personnel, so that the library can seek and pay for copyright permission, or purchase the book.

Please bring in one good copy of the item. The library will scan it into a PDF file, viewable from within the library catalog. Copies become the property of the Daniel Library and will not be returned.

Course Materials: Notes, Old Exams, Etc.

There are a number of ways to submit materials:
Bring/send a paper copy to the library
The item(s) will be scanned into a PDF file, accessible from the catalog. Copies become the property of the Daniel Library and will not be returned.
Bring/e-mail an electronic copy to the library
The item(s) will be converted into a PDF file, accessible from the catalog.
E-mail the file as an attachment to reserves@citadel.edu.

Course Materials: Web Sites

Faculty have their own departmental pages, with course materials, on The Citadel Web. These sites are cataloged and searchable by instructor and course, along with other reserve materials, in the library's catalog. Students need only look in one place for their materials.

PDF Files & Adobe Acrobat Reader

The Daniel Library converts nearly all electronic reserves to PDF (Portable Document Format) for quick and compact computer storage and retrieval. PDF files must be read with the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Library and campus computers have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

You can download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader by following these instructions.
