You'll need a valid Citadel Identification Card and a clear record (no fines, overdues, etc.)

  3. Where can I check out a laptop?

Up to three hours depending on time of check-out. There is a $9 late charge per hour or portion of an hour the laptop is late.
  5. Can I renew?
Yes, you can have one renewal if other laptops are available for checkout.
  6. When can I check out a laptop?

  7. Where can I use laptops?
Anywhere inside the library, laptops cannot be taken from the building. If you want to connect to the internet using the laptop, you will need to sit in one of our wireless network areas.
  8. What if the laptop is damaged or stolen while I have it checked out?
While the laptop is checked out to you, it is your responsibility. You can be charged for any repair or replacement costs up to and including the full replacement cost of the laptop.
  9. What hardware is available on the laptops?
The laptops are Gateway 450Es with 256MB of RAM, a 32MB video card, and 3.5 Floppy drive OR DVD/CD-RW combo drives (the laptop has room for only one drive, not both). The laptops check out with optional power cord and a carrying case.
  10. What software is available on the laptops?
The laptops have current versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Office 2000 (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, etc), and Microsoft Works 7.0.
  11. Where can I print from the laptops?
All laptops print to either HP Laserjet 8150 in the public area of the library or the Laserjet 5si in the Library Instruction Lab (LIL). Print jobs are sent via the network, therefore if you move outside the wireless area, you will not be able to print.
  12. How can I save my work on the laptops?
It is recommended that you NOT save files to the laptop. Once the laptop is powered off, any files saved to it are deleted. You can save files in one of the following ways:
    • Files can be burned to CD (the library does not provide CD's for this purpose).
    • Files can be saved to 3.5 Floppy (ask at Circulation)
    • Files can be saved to your personal USB drive
    • Files can be emailed to your account.
  13. Can I use the laptops to access the internet?
Yes. Ask the person at the circulation desk where you can access our wireless network. To facilitate access, wait until you are in the wireless area before turning on the laptop.
  14. Can I use the laptops to access the Novell Server?
    Yes
