The American State Papers database is a rich source of primary material on many aspects of American
history. The resource includes over 6,000 publications including every legislative and executive
document of the first fourteen U.S. Congresses, plus additional materials such as speeches and
messages of Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. Historical events such as
Lewis and Clark's Expedition, Burr's conspiracy and arrest, and the Treaty of the Creek Indians
are also covered.
The American State Papers is a critical resource for the study of all aspects of American history
including foreign relations; Indian affairs; finance; commerce and navigation; military and naval
