This medal was established in honor of Capt. David Widder, a 1959 graduate who was killed in action in Vietnam on March 24, 1965. It is presented to the outstanding Distinguished Military Student in Army ROTC. (Source: The Guidon, 2002-2003, p. 198) (HN & DH)
