WHITE, JAMES BENJAMIN

April 3, 1828-June 11, 1906. Citadel Class of 1849. Superintendent of The Citadel, 1861-1865. Col. White was the commander of The Citadel cadets at the Battle of Tulifinny Creek. White's portrait hangs in the Daniel Library. It was painted by Grace DuPre, a granddaughter of Col. Stevens, who also graduated from The Citadel in 1849, and who preceded Maj.
