Maj. Gen. Donald A. Steven, Ph.D., Citadel Provost, 2004-2006. Dr. Steven came to The Citadel from the State University of New York, where he was executive vice-provost responsible for planning, development and evaluation of academic activities for the entire SUNY system. In 2006 he left The Citadel to become Provost at Rider University in New Jersey. After Provost Steve's departure, former Provost Harry Carter was named interim Provost. In 2007, Sam Hines was named Provost and Dean of the College.
