Born in 1936 in Spartanburg, S.C. Received a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and M.S. and M.D. degrees from the Medical College of South Carolina, now known as the Medical University of South Carolina. Certified in anatomy, clinical and forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Director of Pathology at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Coach of The Citadel pistol team since 1972. The Sexton Marksmanship Center, located within Inouye Hall, was dedicated on February 1, 2008.
