Military distinctions include Decorated Legion of Merit Award, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Nat. Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 30-year Device, Army Service Ribbon, and Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon with Numeral 3. Interim President of The Citadel, 1996-1997, 2005. Vice President of Academic Affairs at The Citadel, 1992-1995, 1997-1999. His portrait hangs in the Daniel Library.
