OHLANDT, FREDERICK WILLIAM, JR. ("GUNNER")

1928-1997. Citadel Class of 1951. Citadel star athlete and Charleston businessman. Played offense and defense on the football team, 1947-1950. Won four Southern Conference boxing titles and won 111 of his 114 fights while a cadet. Later became one of Charleston's best handball players. He served in the U.S. Army with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Headed the firm of D. W. Ohlandt & Sons. Elected to the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990. Member of the South Carolina Boxing Commission and the Board of Directors of Southeastern Wildlife Management.
