| 1. | GENERAL: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This memorandum establishes purpose, award benefits, criteria and selection procedures for the Employee of the Year Award. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. | PURPOSE: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Citadel Employee of the Year Award publicly recognizes a staff employee for superior performance. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. | ELIGIBILITY: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| To be eligible for the Citadel Employee of the Year Award, an employee must | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| a) | Be a classified Citadel employee (excludes temporary employees, student employees, and tenure track and non-tenure track faculty). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| b) | Have at least two years of continuous employment with The Citadel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| c) | Have an exceeds rating or better on performance evaluation at the time of nomination. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| d) | Have specific or sustained accomplishments that exceed normal expectations. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4. | AWARD BENEFITS: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| a) | $1,500.00 Cash Award | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| b) | One night hotel accommodations for two in Asheville plus two Biltmore House tickets. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| c) | Gift packet valued at $150 from Auxiliary Services. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| d) | Two Season Football Tickets from the Athletic Department. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| e) | Recognition published in The Citadel Daily Bulletin, the College Calendar of Events, and recognition at a Friday parade to the extent possible. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| f) | Designated, free parking space for one year adjacent to or in close proximity of employees place of work. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| g) | Appropriate certificate and engraved plaque. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5. | CRITERIA: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| a) | Staff employees may be nominated for the award in writing by their supervisors or any member of the Faculty/Staff, through their respective department heads. In order to nominate an employee, a nomination form must be completed and sent to the Employee Recognition Committee, c/o the Human Resource Department. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| b) | The Employee Recognition Committee will select an employee based on exceptional contributions to The Citadel, fellow employees, and the community in the following areas: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. | Performs "beyond the call of duty" to improve service, quality or the colleges image. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. | Exemplifies professionalism and dedication to excellent service by putting forth the extra effort. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. | Makes outstanding contributions of significance to the College to fulfill its mission. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 6. | PROCEDURES: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| a) | The Director of Human Resources will receive nominations annually, no later than mid March. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| b) | Nominations received will be referred to the Employee Recognition Committee. Each member will serve on the committee for three (3) years, however, members can be reappointed on the recommendation of their Vice President. The committees objectives are to assist the program coordinator in planning for each years Employee Recognition Program, including the annual Employee of the Year Award. The HR Training Manager is an ex-officio committee member and serves as its coordinator. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| c) | The Committees selection of award recipient will be forwarded to the President for final approval. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| d) | Non-selection documentation and nominations will be retained on file by Human Resources. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| e) | Award benefits will be prepared and administered by the Director of Human Resources following approval by the President. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
