Tuition and fees to increase for 2008-2009

The Citadel Board of Visitors has approved an average 8 percent increase in the 2008-2009 comprehensive cost to parents and cadets. In addition, tuition at The Citadel Graduate College will increase by $45 per credit hour for graduate courses and $38 per credit hour for undergraduate CGC courses.

Employees flocked to the beach house for the 10th Annual Employee Appreciation Day Thursday, May 22. Employees enjoyed the sun and the hamburgers and barbecue (provided by Aramark). Stadium project gets financial support from county

The Citadel has received a commitment from the Charleston County Council to provide $3.5 million from the county accommodations tax revenue. Over 10 years the money will help retire a portion of The Citadel’s debt on the $42 million Johnson Hagood Stadium renovation, a project that is anticipated to have a significant economic and tax benefit for the county.

The Class of 1944 - whose members were called to World War II and did not have a senior year or a commencement ceremony - will be recognized during Saturday's Corps of Cadets commencement. Retired S.C. Supreme Court Justice A. Lee Chandler will speak on behalf of the class. His classmate Col. Robert Adden will receive an honorary degree during the ceremony. The Citadel family was saddened to learn of the death of long-time board member and former chairman, James E. Jones, Jr., who passed away Thursday night in Greenville after a recent illness. A member of the class of 1958, Jones served on the Board of Visitors from 1981 to 2000. In 1992 he was elected chairman of the board and held that post until 1997, guiding The Citadel through its most turbulent period.
