Childers, Sammis memorial funds established
(07 APR) (View Article) The Citadel Foundation announced on April 8 that memorial funds have been created to honor Marines Lt. Shane Childers and Capt. Benjamin Sammis, who died while serving their country in Iraq.


College reflects on war, fallen students
(01 APR) (View Article) In a speech before the Corps of Cadets on April 1, Citadel President Maj. Gen. John Grinalds said, "For many of us, this war in Iraq is very personal. It is for me as I feel a mixture of pride and worry with each day's news. My youngest son, Allen, is a captain in the Marines and a Cobra helicopter pilot serving somewhere in Iraq. There are seven cadets and three CGPS students who are not with us today because they have been deployed in this effort."

Alumni serve on the front lines

His preparation for war is an experience shared by many Citadel alumni currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
