Civil War-era photographs were restored by photographer Rick Rhodes of Rick Rhodes Photography and Imaging who will speak on this process and the history of these historic images taken of Charleston, The Citadel, and area forts in April 1865 during the fourth anniversary of the surrender of Fort Sumter.
Working with the Library of Congress, Rhodes meticulously restored these 144-year-old images to reveal all possible detail from the original glass plate negatives.
A reception with the photographer will follow next door in Capers Hall lobby where the accompanying exhibition is on view now through December 3.
This lecture and exhibition are a part of The Citadel’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences Fine Art Series which brings a variety of visual art, music, and drama events to the campus and the Lowcountry.
