The William D. Ford Direct Loan Program provides students the opportunity
to borrow money to help pay for college. These low-interest loans are
available even to students who would not ordinarily qualify based on their
own credit history.
Because of this, Federal Regulations require that all first time borrowers
complete an Entrance Interview prior to disbursement of a Direct Student
Loan, so that all students are aware of the entire borrowing process and
their repayment options.
Online Entrance Interviews:
- Use the following link to connect to the Direct
Loan Entrance Counseling website.
- Click on "Entrance & Exit Counseling" at the top of the page.
You will be directed to the main entrance counseling page.
- Click on "Go" under Entrance Counseling to get started. Undergraduate students will need to complete the first option (Stafford Loans). Graduate students should complete the third option (Combination-Stafford and PLUS Loans) in the event that you need to apply for a Grad PLUS loan at a later date.
- You will click "Next" to move to the next information
screens until you reach the end. Make sure you fully understand the
tutorial information before you begin taking the quiz. A glossary is also available to get definitions.
- When you finish the quiz, you will need to enter some personal information to assure that The Citadel receives confirmation of completion. Our office will receive your confirmation of completion electronically.
Remember that we cannot credit the loan funds to your account until we receive confirmation of completion.
