Virginia Ward, completed The Citadel's MAT in English
program in 1978 and presently works with The Citadel with
CERRA endeavors. Her recognitions include:
- Charleston County Teacher of the Year (1983-84)
- Teacher in Residence for the SC Center for Teacher Recruitment
(SCCTR) (1993-1995) (2002-present)
- International Baccalaureate Certification: Armand Hammer
United World College, New Mexico (1999)
- National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in
Adolescence and Young Adulthood English Language Arts (2000)
- PACE
I and II Instructor (trainer of teacher trainers for South
Carolina's alternative certification program) (2003)

- Fulbright Memorial Fund Award Recipient (2004)
and her professional publications and presentations are many.
As one of this year's recipients of the Fulbright
Memorial Fund, she will travel to Japan and stay for three
weeks in the home of a Japanese family. When she returns to
the States this December, she will give presentations about
what she observed and learned.
