College Success Institute (C.S.I.)

Welcome to the Citadel's CSI summer program!
CSI is a summer transition program
for incoming Citadel freshmen.
Overview
The College Success Institute at The Citadel was designed by Dr. Barbara
Zaremba to enhance students' academic and military performance. The first
CSI class was accepted in the summer of 1997. Since that time, the program
has expanded greatly and many program revisions and updates have been
implemented, based on student and staff feedback. Through the years, however,
the primary goal of the CSI program has remained the same: to help
first year students to develop the skills necessary for academic and military
success at The Citadel.
Outcomes
CSI is the first step toward the goal of graduation from The Citadel. CSI students have a lower attrition rate than non-CSI students during their first year at The Citadel. For example, the overall freshman attrition rate during the August 2002 through May 2003 school year was 23%. The attrition rate for CSI students during that same time period was only 7%.
Students who attend CSI are better prepared for the academic
and military demands they will face during knob year. They have become
familiar with the campus and its resources, learned about corps expectations,
and built a support system of fellow cadets and Citadel professionals
that will help them during knob year and beyond.
Latest News
There's still time to apply!
We are still taking applications for both CSI summer sessions. As of April
30th, we have approximately 40 spaces available in session 1, and about
20 spaces left in session 2. We're receiving more applications every day,
though, so if you're ready to apply, don't wait!
Information for Accepted and Registered CSI
Students
The final information packets will be mailed out sometime toward the end
of April to all students who have sent in their registration packets.
In the meantime, we have updated the "Info for Registered CSI Students"
web pages with current information. Keep in mind, though, that the information
packet that you'll receive in the mail will be more comprehensive than
the website, so be sure to read that when you receive it.
Applications for CSI 2008
Information and application packets for CSI 2008 have been
mailed to all accepted students. If you have been academically accepted
and have not yet received an information packet please contact
the CSI Coordinator.
Pre-Knob Information Sessions
A CSI information session is held during each Pre-Knob Visit. The CSI
coordinator speaks to pre-knob parents at 11 a.m. in Jenkins Hall Auditorium
and to pre-knob students at 1 p.m. in Bond Hall 165. Anyone who misses
the information session is invited to drop by the CSI office in Thompson
