Blackboard Basics I: Introduction to Blackboard Learn the basics of creating and developing a course in Blackboard, The Citadel’s Course Management System. In this 1.5 hour hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basic layout and navigation of Blackboard.
Collaborating and Communicating with Students In this 1.5 hour hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to Blackboard’s collaboration and communication tools including discussions, announcements, chat and electronic whiteboard and who’s online. Participants will also learn to use Blackboard’s tools to engage students in active collaborative learning. Prerequisites: Blackboard Basics II: Building a Blackboard Course or previous experience using Blackboard.
Plagiarism Prevention Using Blackboard SafeAssign Despite our efforts to educate students regarding the principles of solid academic writing, students may not always understand how to properly reference source content. The new SafeAssign plagiarism prevention service that is now integrated in Blackboard allows students to protect the originality of their work as well as to have it checked for inadvertent citation errors prior to submitting to the faculty member for credit.This 1.5 hour hands-on session will introduce the features of the SafeAssign plagiarism prevention service and its integration with Blackboard and will discuss how to incorporate opportunities for students to self-check their work for citation errors. Prerequisites: Blackboard Basics II: Building a Blackboard Course or previous experience using Blackboard.
Creating and Administering Online Assignments In this 1.5 hour hands-on workshop, participants will learn to use the assignment tool to create, deliver, grade and manage assignment online. Participants will also create and associate Grading Forms with learning activities. Prerequisites: Blackboard Basics II: Building a Blackboard Course or previous experience using Blackboard.
