When is the exam offered?
Students can log onto Blackboard and take the exam at anytime from any location during open testing.

Why do I have to take the exam?
To meet the academic requirement, incoming cadets must either pass the Computer Competency Exam or pass one of the approved courses listed below prior to the second semester of their sophomore year. Students will not receive junior standing until this requirement is completed.

How do I prepare for the exam?
Exam preparation information is located in Blackboard under the “Computer Competency Exam” course link. Study guides and practice exams are available to assist students. Students needing additional help may contact an ITS officer or visit The Writing and Learning Center.

What is the format for the exam?
The 50-minute exam contains multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions.

When will my results be posted to my student records?
Results will be posted to students records at the end of each semester. The CCE is like any other course a student takes at The Citadel. The results are entered into PAWS at the end of each semester. Students who took the exam prior to the beginning of the semester will see their results in PAWS now. Students who took the exam during the current semester will not see their results in PAWS until the end of the semester.

When will I receive my score?
Students receive immediate feedback after completing the exam. Students may also select the My Grades link to view results.

What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
Students scoring less than 70% on the exam must complete Computing Remediation before making a second attempt. Remediation information is located in the Computer Competency Exam Blackboard course. The requirements are released to all students scoring less than 70%.

How can I tell if I have met the requirement by passing an approved course?
Students can check their CCE status in PAWS.

I don't see the Computer Competency Exam 2009 - 2010 link in Blackboard.
First, login to PAWS and check your Computer Competency Exam status. If you have not me the requirement and you do not see the link in Blackboard, send an email message to cce@citadel.edu.
