1. Is there designated seating for visitors with disabilities?

 

For questions regarding handicapped seating at Corps of Cadets Commencement, contact Cadet Activities at 843-953-5111. 

For The Citadel Graduate College Commencement handicapped seating, call 843-953-5089. On-campus handicapped parking will be available for all events.

 

 

2. Will handicapped parking be available for guests?

3. Where can I find a list of hotels and restaurants in the area?

4. Do I need tickets?

 

Admission tickets are required for commencement exercises for the Corps of Cadets on Saturday, May 8. Eight (8) reserved seating tickets will be distributed to each cadet. For more information about availability of tickets, click here.

 

Tickets are not required for admission to The Citadel Graduate College commencement on Sunday, May 9.

 

5. What time do graduates need to be there?

 

Graduating cadets will gather in Deas Hall no later than 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8 for lineup. Alumni fathers presenting diplomas to their sons or daughters will be lined up in the rear hallway of McAlister Field House. Families and other guests must arrive and be seated PRIOR TO THE PROCESSIONAL. Those not seated by 9:20 a.m. must wait until the conclusion of the processional before being seated.

 

CGC students will gather in Deas Hall no later than 1 p.m. Sunday, May 9 for robing and lineup.

 

6. How long does the ceremony usually last?

 

The Corps of Cadets commencement will last approximately 3 hours.

The Citadel Graduate College commencement will last about 1 ½ hours.

 

7. Who is speaking at the cadet commencement this year? Who is speaking at CGC commencement?

 

Bob Schieffer, chief Washington correspondent, anchor and moderator of Face The Nation and CBS News will deliver the Corps of Cadets commencement address.

 

Charleston RiverDogs co-owner Mike Veeck will deliver the commencement address to The Citadel Graduate College at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 9 in McAlister Field House.

 

 

8. What can we bring into the field house for commencement?

 

For the Corps of Cadets commencement on Saturday May 8, all guests must have tickets to enter the field house. Tickets are not required for admission to The Citadel Graduate College commencement on Sunday, May 9.

For both commencement exercises: No boxes, alcohol, weapons, firecrackers, noise makers, umbrellas, beverage containers of any sort, backpacks, large handbags, coolers, thermoses or similar items will be allowed in the field house. Food and drink are prohibited. Cameras and video cameras are permitted.

 

 

9. Who should I contact to order graduation invitations?

 

You many order invitations through Balfour Graduation Announcements online.  Please note an invitation or announcement cannot be used for admission to the Corps of Cadets commencement.
