One of the major reasons why the African-American Society was founded was to promote awareness of the fact that Black cadets were indeed at The Citadel and that they also cared about the community. One particular way to accomplish this task was to present the cadets to the community through involvement in community service. Over fourty years later, the African-American Society still exists with pride, honor, and a tradition of community service established by its founding members. |
