Citadel Cadets Visit Air Force Bases in Florida
Air Force ROTC cadets from The Citadel recently visited Tyndall AFB and Eglin AFB to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of an Air Force Base. The cadets received briefings and tours of the F-15 and F-22 fighters, met with junior officers, and received a mission briefing by Brig Gen Darryl Roberson, 325th Fighter Wing Commander. They also toured the Air Force Armament Museum, receiving a personal tour led by the museum director, Colonel George Jones (USAF, retired), a 1979 graduate of The Citadel.
Cadets Give Back to the Community
During a recent ROTC training weekend, Air Force ROTC cadets from The Citadel volunteered their time, working with local Habitat for Humanity (HFH) affiliates. In Mt Pleasant, the cadets helped cap a foundation in preparation for framing and also poured concrete pads for another home. At the Wadmalaw Island site they set rebar for a foundation and framed a home. In Goose Creek, the cadets built a warehouse shed for the Habitat store. By the end of the day, the cadets had put in more than 185 man-hours on the various projects, but more importantly, they helped make the dream of affordable home ownership a reality for a few lowcountry families.
