On 27 August 1997, a special, restricted access account was set up in honor of Professor Charles Jumper, retired. Originally, the purpose of this fund is to allow all donations that are restricted by the donors to go to the Chemistry Department to be combined and used to effect major upgrades in our instrument holdings. However, this year the fund has gotten large enough to sponsor a scholarship in Professor Jumper's honor. There are two ways in which donations may be made to this fund: via CDF or directly to the Chemistry Department.
Professor Charles F. Jumper - Biography
For those wishing to make their contribution via CDF, please be certain that you check the box on the gift card that you are restricting this as a gift to The Citadel. On the memo portion of the check write, "Chemistry Restricted - Jumper Fund." Please note that this route will take 6 to 8 weeks for the funds to make it to the restricted account.
A more direct means of making donations is via the Citadel Advancement Office. Simply make the check out to "The Citadel - Chemistry Department Restricted - Jumper Fund" and send the check to Dr. J.R. Blanton, Head, Department of Chemistry, The Citadel, Charleston, SC 29409. The checks will be taken to the designated person in the Advancement Office for more rapid processing.
In both cases, include a short note that states you want the funds to go to the account: The Citadel Chemistry Department Restricted - In Honor of Professor Charles Jumper.
This should insure the funds reach the appropriate account.
For those whose companies have matching gift programs, please look into this as it would provide additional help to the department.
