Club Fund Raising and Movie Nights

Knob Movie Nights are to be hosted by cadet clubs as a fundraising opportunity.
Pizza and movie, $5 admission, minimum two (2) slices of pizza, punch, cookies
Wednesday 1800 - Open to all members of the fourth class

Only clubs with valid charters and accompanying paperwork will be allowed to host a movie night. Cadet club forms and applications can be found on the Cadet Activities website(http://www.citadel.edu/cadetactivities/forms/cadetforms.htm). A club charter and club member roster must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Milner by 1 October 2009 in order for your organization to officially “exist.” Fund raising will not be allowed for clubs who have not submitted their charter, roster, etc.

Any fund raising that a club attempts, including hosting a movie night, must be properly approved. The fund raising approval form can be picked up in Room 211, Mark Clark Hall, or can be downloaded here. The fund raising permission form must be signed by the Regimental Commander, LTC Sberna in Cadet Activities, an ARMARK catering representative, and SGT Greene in the Commandant’s Office.

Again, the fund raising approval form must be accompanied by completed club charter, constitiution and by-laws, and club roster. Fund raising will not be allowed for clubs that have not been approved by Cadet Activities.

Three tasks are essential to a successful movie night:

(1) Clubs must contact ARAMARK in advance for support with plates, napkins, punch and cookies. Contact ARAMARK at 953-6951 or 953-2522 at least a week in advance.

(2) Clubs should also order pizza in advance to insure smooth delivery. Papa John’s seems to have been the best option in past years, but it is in your best interest to call around to their competitors. It is also a good idea to check with club members who host early in the semester to get an idea of how to place your order.

(3) Audio/Video support is offered through Cadet Activities. A club representative must meet with Mr. Dukes in advance to be instructed on use and care of Cadet Activities equipment and the Buyer Auditorium.

One other big part of a successful movie night is advertising. Flyers on bulletin boards help. Announcements at mess are a great idea also. Work with classmates to be sure that all companies are encouraging their knobs to attend movie night to help your chances of showing a profit for your efforts.

Movies are to be provided by the club, and it is nice to offer the knobs an option of what they will watch. It is a good idea to have extra cash and change on hand to help with the admission costs, and it is best to work with the Treasurer’s Office well in advance rather than trying to ask for help from the Gift Shop or Canteen at the last minute.

To inquire about hosting a movie night, please contact Mr. Dukes via email at dukesb1@citadel.edu.

Movie nights will be hosted on the following Wednesday evenings…
Sept 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Oct 7, 14, 21, 28
Nov 4, 11, 18,
Dec 2
Jan 20, 27
Feb 3, 10, 17, 24
Mar 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Apr 14, 21

Movie nights are only one option of fundraising for clubs. Mrs. Milner can assist with ideas on other ways to raise money for your club activities(Shelton.milner@citadel.edu or 953-7775).
